Joseph L. Favela
was born in Los Mochis Sinaloa, Mexico. He entered the U.S. at Nogales, AZ as a three-year old on foot with his parents.
   Eighteen years later, although he was not yet a U.S. citizen, Joseph was drafted into the U.S. Army at Phoenix, AZ on 1 December 1942.  His eligibility for the draft came after Mexico signed on as an ally and therefore citizens of each country could be drafted no matter which nation they resided in.
   Pvt Favela entered basic training at Camp Roberts CA and while there volunteered for parachutist duty.  Sent to Ft Benning, Joe completed jump school and demolition training and was then transferred on 8 August 1943 from Ft Benning's Parachute School to Hq Hq, 508th which was posted to Camp Mackall at that time..

Petition for Naturalization
Petition No. 628 completed by Josť Lopez Favela, aka Joseph Lopez Favela, on 15 July 1943 while serving as a Pvt in Co A, 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, GA.  He took the oath of Renunciation And Allegiance on 15 July 1943.

Citizenship Record
documents that Joseph was admitted as a citizen on 15 July 1943 under Petition No 628 and that a certificate of citizenship was entered in the U.S. District Court, Columbus, GA on 16 July 1943
