Plum Dumplings

Take macaroni dough
1/4" thick + wrap a fresh sugared plum in dough so it is air tight.  Drop in boiling water + when they rise to top they are done. Cover with melted butter


Make apples same way


Spumoni ice cream


  Take quart of ice cram and let melt till it pours with a spoon.  Crush 3 or 4 bannnas in it.  Refreeze in ice box.

[Jumpmaster Note: Clearly John was often lost in thought as he whiled away the time, of which he had a copious supply, dreaming of the things he missed most back home.
   The listings of candies, pastries and favorite recipes are indicative of the meager foods that prisoners survived on.
   Plus, man's best friend, his dog, Bux, was frequently in the forefront of his mind.]
