Reunion of the 508th
was held in September 1983 in Portland Oregon at the Thunderbird
Motor Inn, Jantzen Beach |
Located
at the north end of Portland, away from downtown and
overlooking the Columbia River, the Thunderbird Motor
Inn at Jantzen Beach, sits on one side of the Interstate Bridge
connecting Portland with Vancouver, Washington. |
Welcome To Portland!
Each attendee received an Honorary Citizen certificate with some
tongue-in-cheek verbiage due to the annual area
rainfall:
"Said honoree has duly earned said status by soaking
both feet in a barrel of Vintage Oregon Rainwater.
Said honoree is further declared to have met all the prescribed
requirements. The honoree has displayed the
webbing between toes of said feet plus ... being
accompanied by the mot appropriate shade of moss green,
found only on the bottom of he Columbia and Willamette
rivers." |
The
Oregonian
newspaper published a large article on the 508th's
reunion. Actual publication date is unknown. |
