NORMANDY - HILL30 & MERDERET RIVER SCENES

508th Commemorated
Plaque recalls that the 508th fought on Hill 30 from the 6th to the 12th of June, 1944

Merderet Marshes
on D-Day were all flooded and were deadly to some paratroopers

today, however, the Merderet flows quietly past the causeway bridge

French Farm House
where Harry Hudec sought refuge after being wounded in his leg

"Field Hospital"
The owners hid Hudec in the stable (at right). They fed him and helped care for the wound.

Horse Stable
Harry stands before the stable where he hid for four days only leaving when he was warned the Bosch were approaching
