STE. MERE EGLISE, FRANCE - VILLAGE SCENES

Ike's Place
Both an area (Quatre) and a street (Rue) are name for General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces

Turnabout Is Fair Play
at least in war.  A member of the 505th dropped on this spot, was captured and then his captor surrendered to him

Local Band
from Maligny-Cerisy La Salle lent a festive air as they paraded through the streets

Crowded Street
fills back up again as soon as the band passed by

U.S. Army Surplus Store
directly across from the church was doing a land office business with the re-enactor crowd as well as with the tourists

Who, What, Where, and When
It's all here on this sign

Le Hotel John Steele
we are told is owned and operated by the same man who dangled from the spire. Note the parachutist image at left

School Menu
hopefully the menu at the school of Notre Dame isn't reflected by the beer on this eateries sign
