See You Later Gator This LVT (or 'Landing Vehicle, Tank) is a tracked landing craft and was used as a personnel carrier. The high angle of the front section of the track made it ideally suited for climbing onto beaches and dune lines. The armored front ramp lent protection for the LVT's occupants until it was dropped for exiting.
