Dear Members,
We need your help.
For the first time since the Association was formed a General Membership
Meeting was not held at our 2017 Reunion.
I want to
apologize. Troy & I had a family emergency with our enfant grandson and
had to return to Augusta during the Reunion. As events unfolded we
found ourselves taken away from our normal roles at the Reunion and were
not there to ensure the General Membership Meeting was held. I’m very
sorry for not being there so that you, the members, were given an
accounting of OUR Association and, in addition, you were not informed of
the slate of Officers recommended by the Nominating Committee for 2018.
Subsequently no new Board of Directors were voted in.
OUR Bylaws, Section
3.9, mandates:
“ Action in
Writing. Any action required or permitted at any meeting of the
members may be taken without a meeting if a majority of the members
consent to the action in writing and the written consents are filed with
the records of the meetings of the members. Consents provided via email
are to be considered written consents. Such consents shall be treated
for all purposes as a vote at a meeting.”
Therefore, I am
asking for your help. We must hold a General Membership Meeting prior
to year end. At this General Membership Meeting (without the Members
physically present in compliance with Article III, Section: 3.9) we will
again follow our Bylaws, as laid out in Article IX, Section 9.2. Order
of Business.
General Membership
approval is necessary, in writing, for us to hold this special meeting.
Please reply, yes or no, no later than Friday, December 1, 2017, with
your desire to hold this meeting. Our Bylaws also require that at
least 10 days notice prior to the meeting be given to each member, and
that such a meeting requires at least 50 members be present to comprise
a quorum. Your vote is crucial! Please return the attached, with your
vote to : Hold this special General Membership Meeting, or, Not to hold
this meeting. Kindly return your vote either via mail to: Troy Palmer,

for everyone’s help and please accept my sincere and heartfelt apology
for the inconvenience and lack of leadership on my part. We simply
needed to be home with our daughter and new grandson.

will be our greatest year yet! We will continue our quest to honor and
preserve the Legacy of our beloved 508th PIR!
