"Scene" Around The Town

The group took a cruise on the seven-mile Augusta Canal that runs from above the Savannah River rapids into the heart of Augusta.  The canal opened in 1846 to provide transportation and waterpower during the Civil War for the powder works, as well as for a Confederate firearms plant, ordnance foundry, and bakery.
Today it is largely used for recreational boating and sightseeing in modern canal boats

Sweet Talker
Lamson cajoled the boat operator into letting him take the helm.  Rumor has it that Ernie claimed he was qualified because he ran a Higgins boat onto Utah beach.
