	GO No 35 Hq; 82d Abn Div APO 469 U S Army 15 July 1944 II — AWARD OF. THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL
 
	Under the provisions of AR 600-45, as amended, and pursuant authority 
	contained in letter 200.6 (AG) Headquarters XVIII Corps Airborne, dated 31 
	August 1944, and Circular No. 2, Headquarters First United States Army, 
	dated 4 January 1945, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to the following named individual: 
	JOHN D. BOONE, 19139805, Staff Sergeant, 508th-Parachute Infantry. For 
	heroic conduct in action on 6 June 1944, one mile from Picauville, France.   Staff Sergeant Boone volunteered and successfully 
	penetrated enemy lines in order to locate and bring back to safety personnel 
	of the company who had been wounded in a fire fight. 
	By his meritorious service during this action, Staff Sergeant 
	Boone, Headquarters, First Battalion, was instrumental in saving the lives 
	of many of the soldiers 
	 Entered military service from San Francisco, California.
