Sgt Boone volunteered
to act as a decoy to draw enemy fire so that
enemy automatic weapons positions in gliders
and nearby woods might be determined and reduced.
This plan of action took place at night. |
g. |
Sgt Boone's squad
was assigned the mission of finding and reducing
the positions of the enemy who had partially
infiltrated our position, and were thought to
be hidden in gliders and/or nearby woods. |
h. |
Spreading his
squad out and creeping forward with them for
some distance, Sgt Boone would then stand erect
and advance noisily for approximately two
hundred yards, wait until his squad came up,
and then repeat this action.
Of the four suspected enemy positions, Sgt Boone drew fire from three.
These positions were reduced completely.
Sgt Boone personally accounted for two of the
enemy. |
