For heroic conduct in action against the enemy on 20 September 1944 near ***.  Private Ellerbusch was am Anti-tank Rocket Launcher Gunner, Company "C", 508th Parachute Infantry.  His courage and determination while supporting the defense of his company position, assisted in repulsing enemy attempts to penetrate his position.   During an attack by at least two companies of infantry, Private Ellerbusch acted with disregard for personal safety in order to change position and fire more effectively into the enemy.  He succeeded in breaking one German attempt to maneuver to the flank of his company position.  When the company was ordered to displace to new positions, Private Ellerbusch personally covered the displacement of his squad and succeeded in delaying the enemy advance.  Private Ellerbusch was mortally wounded in this action.
