WILLIAM W. HOWE, 31059429, Staff Sergeant, 508th Parachute Infantry. For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy on 24 December 1944 at ***, BELGIUM. Staff Sergeant HOWE, Battalion Supply Servant, Headquarters Company, Third Battalion, demonstrated a high degree of devotion to duty and personal course during a withdrawal to new defenses. To insure that no ammunition or weapons fell into enemy hands, STAFF SERGEANT HOWE personally supervised the loading while the enemy was pushing forward determinedly.
