PETER L. KELLEY, 0-1322926, First Lieutenant, 508th Parachute Infantry. For Heroic conduct in action against the "enemy" on 20 September 1944 near *** GERMANY. First Lieutenant KELLEY, Battalion S-4, displayed courage of high order to deliver supplies to front line positions. Company "A", defending Hill 75.9, became isolated from the battalion and was encircled by the enemy. A redistribution of ammunition revealed only five rounds per man and none for automatic weapons. At 0200 hours First Lieutenant KELLEY voluntarily led a carrying party through territory held by the Germans and succeeded in reaching this company with resupply. It is doubtful if their position could have been successfully defended had not First Lieutenant KELLEY reached it with additional ammunition. Entered military service from CLEVELAND, OHIO.
