 I - AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL, FOR HEROIC CONDUCT     
	Under the provisions of AR 600-45, as amended, and pursuant to authority 
	contained in letter 200,6 (AG) Headquarters XVIII Corps Airborne, dated 31 
	August 1944, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to the following named 
	individuals t

	*                     PETER L. KELLEY, 0-1322926, First Lieutenant, 508th 
	Parachute Infantry. For Heroic conduct in action against the "enemy" on 20 
	September 1944 near *** GERMANY. First Lieutenant KELLEY, Battalion S-4, 
	displayed courage of high order to deliver supplies to front line positions. 
	Company "A", defending Hill 75.9, became isolated from the battalion and was 
	encircled by the enemy. A redistribution of ammunition revealed only five 
	rounds per man and none for automatic weapons. At 0200 hours First 
	Lieutenant KELLEY voluntarily led a carrying party through territory held by 
	the Germans and succeeded in reaching this company with resupply. It is 
	doubtful if their position could have been successfully defended had not 
	First Lieutenant KELLEY reached it with additional ammunition. Entered
