Pfc Ledesma,
immediately after the jump, secured his machine gun,
and ammunition from the equipment bundles though it
was afire and the bundles were being covered by
enemy machine pistol and rifle fire. He
carried both weapons and ammunition to where his
stick assembled, the covered their advance upon a
German strongpoint, enabling his comrades to reduce
this position of enemy resistance. |

Pfc Leadsman was one
of the small group of men who landed in Germany on
the Holland jump, and was attacked by enemy of
approximately company strength, prior to their
complete assembly and fighting their way back to
their unit. |

In assembling the men
of this group were receiving a large amount of fire
from a German strongpoint. Pfc Ledesma acting
upon his own initiative, moved in close to the enemy
position, placing fire on it, and enabling others to
work in close enough to reduce the enemy position
with explosive grenades. |

As the result of Pfc
Ledesma's action the enemy strongpoint was reduced,
and was instrumental in enabling this small group to
fight back to their own unit after killing many of
the enemy and taking 59 prisoners. |
