GETS BRONZE STAR, AIDED
4 IN HELICOPTER RESCUE
SAIGON, South Viet
Nam, Dec. 10 (AP) - Lt. Col. Foy Rice, Norman, Okla.,
has been awarded the Bronze Star for the rescue of four helicopter crewmen
shot down in the central highlands 240 miles north of Saigon,
the Army announced yesterday.
Rice, commander of the seventeenth Combat
Aviation Group's Fifty-second Helicopter Battalion,
dropped 100 feet by helicopter hoist to assist the crewmen, two of them
seriously injured, into the helicopter.
Viet Cong
were known to be in the rescue area, but they did not attack, the Army
account said.
