Bobby Strickland, son of Mrs.. Jo Strickland, Hughes Springs, was promoted
to Army sergeant recently in Vietnam, where he is serving with the 82nd
Airborne Division.
Sgt Battalion, 508th Infantry of the division's 3rd Brigade,
entered the Army in April 1968, completed basic training at Fort Polk, La.,
and arrived overseas the following October.
He holds the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the
Purple Heart.
The 20-year-old soldier was graduated from Hughes Springs High
School in 1967. His father, D. L. Strickland lives on Routed 1,
