How He Won Medals

SAN ANTONIO --- Lt Col Shields Warren Jr., battalion commander in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, who won the Silver in Normandy where he was slightly wounded, has received the Bronze Star Medal for heroic action in Holland. He also holds the Purple Heart and Distinguished Badge with two clusters.
   He wrote his father Col Shields Warren retired that he was decorated for "the rapid shifting of my battalion from one place attacking a glider landing zone, clearing it of Krauts including the knocking out of ack-ack guns and capturing 149 and killing a bunch more All done in three hours from time I got the order"
