For heroic conduct in action on 24-25 December 1944 in *** BELGIUM.  Second Lieutenant WHEELOCK, Platoon Leader, Company "B", deployed his platoon as a holding force.  His position was attacked by an estimated company and overrun.  He moved his platoon to an alternate position. Though wounded he returned alone to the original position, located missing men, brought them safely back, then continued his defense.  His leadership and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Airborne Forces.
