508th Honored By  Citizens of Normandy

For Grandpa
John Sparry, grandson of Col (ret) Mark Alexander attended in honor of his grandfather who had just passed away two weeks prior o this dedication in Caponet, France on 4 June 2004

Regimental Honor
was accorded by naming Hill 30 after the entire unit in recognition of the long siege they withstood while holding that prime real estate.

Thomas J. B. Shanley
was rightfully acclaimed for his role on Hill 30 with the naming of a crossroad in his honor.

 
The main street through Chef du
Pont is named "Rue Capitaine Rex Combs", in honor of Rex Combs who was in A Company.
   Rex and a small band of troopers liberated this town on the morning of D-
Day.

Chet Graham
has this Route in Picauville to call his own

O. B. Hill
was honored when the town of Beuzeville la Bastille named this road after him.
"It is
the first street after entering the town," recalled O. B. in his Executive Summary.
   "On the morning of D-Day, I was blown off of the bridge by German artillery shells as I tried to get to this
street."

Tom Porcella
had this Way (Path) named after him.  The Passage is located in Le Port Filiolet, Picauville and is quite close to where Tom landed on his D-Day jump.

The Indomitable
Schlegel received this tribute when a road was given his name.
