 SUBJECT: Award of the Silver Star Medal.TO : Pvt John Dobransky, 
	13132024
 508th Parachute Infantry, U. S. Army.
 
	
	Under the provisions of 600-45, as amended, and pursuant to authority 
	contained in letter 200.6 (AG) Headquarters XVIII Corps Airborne, dated 31 
	August 1944, the Silver Star Medal is awarded to the following named individual: 
	
	CITATION: JOHN DOBRANSKY, 
	13132024, 
	Private, 508TH Parachute Infantry.  For gallantry in action on 30 
	January 1945 near ******** BELGIUM.  Private DOBRANSKY displayed 
	unusual courage and aggressiveness as a member  of a platoon whose 
	mission it was to clear out a woods near his company defensive position.  
	The platoon came under heavy machine gun fire, which killed his squad 
	leader.  Seizing a BAR,  Private DOBRANSKY charged the position in 
	the face of the fire and destroyed it  
	Private DOBRANSKY the reorganized his squad and took command of it until the 
	mission was completed.  By his voluntary ands courageous action, 
	Private DOBRANSKY contributed to the success of the Platoon mission, and set 
	a splendid example for his comrades.  His actions were in keeping with the 
	high standards of the Airborne Forces of the United States 
	Army.  Entered military service from PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
