AWARD OF THE SILVER STAR MEDAL TO
CPL WALLACE C. JUDD
For Gallantry In Action 7 January 1945

CITATION: GO 36 19 March 1945 (page 3)

WALLACE C. JUDD, 33522229, Corporal, 508th Parachute Infantry. For gallantry in action on 7 January 1945, near ******, BELGIUM.  Charged with supplying overhead fire from his machine gun in support of attacking troops, Corporal JUDD exposed himself fearlessly to knock out an enemy emplacement on his company's flank.  He then directed the fire of his aromatic weapon upon an enemy mortar position, effectively neutralizing it and removing this danger to the company advance.  When the attacking troops came under heavy fire fro to self-propelled funs, Corporal JUDD, with complete disregard for his own safety, moved his weapon forward and succeeded in killing and scattering the crew of one gun and aided in knocking out the other.  Corporal JUDD's conduct and gallantry were dominant factors in the success of the battalion's attack and were in keeping with the high traditions of the Airborne Forces.  Entered service from RICHMOND, VIRGINIA..
