AWARD OF THE SILVER STAR MEDAL TO
PFC CARMEN ORLANDO
For Gallantry In Action

Pfc. Orlando Awarded
   Silver Star Medal 

  With the Eighty-second Airborne Division on the Western Front --- Private First Class Carmen Orlando,. of Paterson, N. J., has I been awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action in the Normandy campaign.
   A member of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Private First Class Orlando braved enemy artillery and machine gun fire to bring up mines for the construction of a mine field vital to American defenses.
    Private First Class Orlando voluntarily made several trips through an exposed area to a dump 150 yards in front of friendly troops, and returned with mines needed to complete the field.
   Private First Class Orlando is the son of Mrs. Mary Orlando, 87 Butler street, Paterson. Hel has participated in action in Belgium and Germany in addition to the Normandy campaign.
