	HARRY M. RHODUS,

	35877555, Private, 508TH Parachute Infantry.
For gallantry in action on September 21, 1944 at ***,Germany.  An enemy
force of battalion strength, supported by heavy artillery and 20 mm guns,
threatened the flank of Private RHODUS company's defensive positions at the
town of ***, Germany.  During the height of this attack, Private RHODUS
held his position and brought effective fire upon the advancing enemy.
Twice the enemy attempted to penetrate through Private RHODUS, but were
stopped by his accurate fire.  When the company was ordered to occupy
stronger positions, Private RHODUS remained as a rearguard and continued to
hold up he German advance.  Against trusts were made at our displacing
troops, but he stopped each effort until our men were safely in position.
Fighting his way alone, he rejoined the company. This courageous action by
Private RHODUS assured the successful evacuation to new positions. His
determined stand against superior forces delayed he enemy at a critical
stage and enable us to remove all heavy weapons and evacuate our wounded.
