SITREPS 508/1

GOOD NEWS STORIES OF THE WEEK:

- Panther of the Week: SPC William Crenshaw from 1st PLT, A Co, was selected above his peers to be a team leader during the CALFEX at NTC. With simulated casualties and a MEDEVAC HH60 in-bound, SPC Crenshaw direct the movement of aircraft on the objective. Based on his exemplary performance during that training he has remained a team leader since the redeployment and has been leading his team with distinction through recovery tasks and Clean Sweep. Since being back from NTC, SPC Crenshaw has already received a new member of his team into the platoon, successfully bringing him up to speed on all SOPs and tasks.

- SPC Andrew Judge from HHC graduated BLC on Wednesday on the Commandant's List.

- 1-508 PIR welcomed CPT Paul Kearney as our new D Co commander this morning.

- 1-508 PIR welcomed three new members to the 1 Fury family this week. On Monday, 1LT Fowler's (B Co) wife Jennifer gave birth to Austin James and SGT Allen Garcia (A Co) and his wife welcomed a new baby, Michael Isaiah Garcia. PFC Thompson (A Co) also married Jessica Lynn.

THIS WEEK:

1-508 PIR conducted Operation Clean Sweep and preparation for All American Week and the BCT Change of Command. On Sunday, Charlie Company returned from the OPFOR support at NTC. On Wednesday, 1-508 PIR conducted the change of command ceremony for Delta Company between CPT David Quantock (outgoing) and CPT Paul Kearney (incoming).

NEXT WEEK:

1-508 PIR will participate in All-American Week events and dominate all sporting events. We're ready to receive all our Gold Star Family members.

AIRBORNE OPERATIONS: Last Saturday, our battalion ran 7 x C130 line with 280 Paratroopers from 1-508, 5/73 CAV, and HHBN on Sicily Drop Zone. This Saturday, 1-508 PIR plans to send multiple Paratroopers to the SPJP jump.

LEADER DEVELOPMENT: 1-508 PIR has six Paratroopers currently in Ranger School, with two in the Mountain phase. Additionally, 2LT Goodin and 2LT Campoy recently returned from OCS as second lieutenants. Five future Jumpmasters are awaiting PWAC and another four are currently in the Jumpmaster Course. On Wednesday, four Paratroopers (one on the commandant's list) graduated BLC. 1-508 PIR also has one Paratrooper in Sniper School, one Paratrooper in RSLC, and multiple Paratroopers in ABCS classes.

"BUILD READY AND RESILIENT PARATROOPERS AND FAMILIES":

- 1-508 PIR conducted an FRG Steering Committee on Wednesday. On Thursday, Mrs. Annie Frazer from HHC will receive the Division Volunteer Recognition Award.
