NEIL A. MCNEIL


WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Retired U.S. Army Maj. Neil Alexander McNeil, 75, died Sunday in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and had served with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. He was a World War II veteran.

After military service he retired from the civil service as director of industrial operations at Fort Bragg. He was a past director, commander and member of the Fayetteville Power Squadron.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fayetteville by Father Willard Rucinski. Burial will be in Main Post Cemetery, Fort Bragg, with full military honors.

Mr. McNeil is survived by his wife Eunice S. McNeil of Kensington, Md.; a daughter, Suzanna Benson of Fayetteville; a son, Dr. John McNeil of Rockville, Md.; three sisters, Irene Hilliard of Wenatchee, Wash., and Eunice McAlphine of Merrifield, Minn., and JoAnne Solinger of Annandale, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 700 Carnegie St., Fayetteville, N.C., 28311.
