Ronald L. Anderson Sr.

Ronald L. Anderson Sr., age 75 died on April 25, 2008 after a long illness at his home in West Deptford where he lived since 1969.

Ron served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. Raised in Wellsville, N.Y., he graduated from Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y., in 1958. He worked for the US Treasury as a National Bank Examiner for the Office of Comptroller of Currency and retired in 1989 after 25 years.

He was a former member of the West Deptford Lions Club and former member of the Woodbury Country Club. Ron enjoyed playing golf. He was the Captain of his college golf team for three years, Woodbury Club Champion in 1971 and had several legitimate Holes in One. He had the uncanny ability to recall all of his golf shots. Ron also prided himself in observing golf etiquette and expected it from partners and opponents alike. After he was no longer able to hit his drives “straight down the middle,” he quit playing, ending a 50-year career.

Survived by his wife of 41 years Cheryl (nee Bennett), children R. Larry, Jr. of Cordova, Tenn., Sheila (Rolf) Mikkelson of Auburn, N.Y., Brian of West Deptford, brother Glen of Wellsville, N.Y., sisters Jean Grimes of Jersey Shore, Pa., Ruth Hoffstatter of Leander, Texas, and grandchildren Justin, Nicklas, and Hannah.

A service celebrating Ron¹s life will be on Tuesday 8 p.m. in the BUDD FUNERAL HOME, 171 Delaware Street, Woodbury, N.J. Friends may greet the family after 7 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the West Deptford Library, 420 Crown Point Road, West Deptford, NJ 08086. Memorials shared
