Master Sergeant Vergil "Andy" Anderson, Retired, was born January 30, 1925 and passed away April 16, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Joyce B. Anderson; second wife Ell Louise Anderson; and youngest son Mark Lee Anderson.
Andy is survived by son Alan Anderson; daughter Susan Beth Anderson; and grandson Andy Anderson.
His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Jeter & Son Chapel with military honors and interment at DFW National Cemetery.

Vergil registered for the draft in Hopkins, TX on 30
January 1943, his 18th birthday which was the exact date that he
qualified to do so.
On 26 February 1944, Pvt Anderson was transferred from
the Casual Detachment No. 43 of the 474th Replacement Company to Service
Company, 508th PIR. He was transferred from service Company to Hq
3rd on 2 March 1944.
On 21 July 1944, he was promoted to Technician Fifth
Grade,
His military decorations include the bronze Service
Arrowhead device awarded for participation in Normandy assault and the
Good conduct Medal. |
On 13 February 1946, Vergil married Joyce Evelyn Bowen in
Cumberland, North Carolina
MSgt Anderson and his family, wife Joyce plus
children; Vergil (5) and Susan (3) arrived in New York aboard a MATS
charter aircraft flown by Seaboard and Western Airlines flight from
Frankfurt, Germany.
The flight departed Frankfurt on 7 September 19855 and
refueled at Shannon airport that same day. A second refueling was
performed at Gander, Newfoundland on September 8th and the flight
terminated in New York.
Joyce succumbed to a massive heart
attack in 1982 and is buried in Vergil's home area of Sulphur Springs,
TX.. She lies in a double plot and the bronze marker show Vergil's
name and date of birth but his death date remains empty.
In
1984, Vergil remarries taking Ell Louise Smith as his new bride.
She preceded him in death and they are both buried in the same plot in
the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Note the plot and section
