WILLIAM E. ANDRAE

Grave marker for William E. Andrae in Section 1A, Row 10A, Site 24, Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines (Pinellas county), Florida.

William registered for the draft on 6 April 1943, his 18th birthday, and was inducted into the Army four months later on 9 August,

He was discharged on 23 April 1946, remained overseas and married WAC Carol Lou Ann Knudson [1925-2010] on 1 March 1946 in Frankfort, Germany. The wedding announcement said "Andrea was a Sgt in the 508th PIR there."

He re-enlisted on 4 January 1948 and was discharged on 28 June 1948 to accept a commission which he did the following day.

William ultimately retired on 30- April 1967 as a Lt. Colonel.
