LAWRENCE Z. ARROWOOD

Signal Program To Include Carolinian
   A Third Army signal demonstration team of 12 enlisted men and one officer will demonstrate the latest in equipment and techniques ot signal communications for Army reserves and the general public "Monday at 7:30 p. m.
   One South Carolinian, T-5 Lawrence D. Arrowood of Valley Falls, is included In the group. A radar specialist, he Jumped with the third battalion headquarters radar section In the Normandy invasion, being a member of the 508th parachute Infantry attached to the 82nd division. He also Jumped with the same section in Holland and the Battle of the Bulge.
   The regular drill night for the 51st signal company will be held at the armory that night, according to Capt. John P. Gore, commander. The demonstration is being sponsored here by the Organized Reserve corps.

Grave marker for Lawrence Z. Arrowood in the Garden of the Well of Samaria, Section F of the Greenville Memorial Gardens, Piedmont (Greenville county), South Carolina.

Lawrence enlisted in the Army on 19 November 1942 and was assigned to the Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 508th.

Pvt Arrowood was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his participation in the Normandy assault.

He also received the Purple Heart for a wound sustained on 1 February 1945 in Belgium.

Pvt Arrowood was discharged 11 September 1945 but re-enlisted on on 3 February 1945.  He attained the rank of Pfc during this second period of service and it is assumed that he chose to leave the service at that time.
