MICHAEL O. ASHTON

Master Badges Awarded At Fort's Pay Day Parade
   FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., Ten men of the 11th Airborne Division were  awarded Master Parachutist Badges last Thursday during the monthly pay-day review.
   Major General Wayne O. Smith, commanding general of Fort Campbell j and the 11th Airborne Division, made the presentations. Sharing the reviewing stand with the commanding general was Brigadier General Ralph M. Osborne, 11th Airborne Division Artillery commander.
   Men receiving the paratrooper honor for the successful completion of 65 jumps were: Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence A. Mustek, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment; Master Sergeants Michael O. Ashton, and Liahontai E. Brown, and Sergeants First Class Rex L. Gayler, Harold L. Hensley and LeRoy D. Rogers, all of the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team; ...

Grave marker for Michael O. Ashton in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, (Spring Lake, Cumberland county), North Carolina.

On 21 May 1955, Travel Authorization #7 listed MSgt Ashton's spouse Carol and their two daughters for transportation from Fort Campbell, KY to Camp Chickamauga, Japan as Operation Gyroscope was completed.  The men were returned separately.
