Grave markers for John E. Austin and family in Barren Creek Springs Cemetery in Mardela Springs (Wicomico County), Maryland.

While it is known that John joined the Army on February 9, 1942 at Ft. George G Meade, Maryland it is not yet known when he went through parachutist training or when he arrived in the 508th.  He does, however, appear in the Service Company photos taken at Camp Mackall, NC in the Spring of 1943.

John was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead devoice for his participation in the Holland Campaign.
