Grave marker for Robert A. Austin in the Welch Cemetery,
Ramsey (Fayette county), Illinois. Robert
enlisted in the Army on 4 August 1942 and was assigned to Company H,
508th PIR.
T5 Austin was initially listed as MIA in Normandy on 6
June 1944. His status was later changed to seriously wounded as of
9 June 1944.
He was evacuated and did not return to the regiment.
However, based upon his grave marker he was promoted to the grade of T4
some time after his departure from the 508th. |
