Edwin enlisted in the Army at Tipton, IN
and was assigned to Company H, 508th.
Pvt Bakal was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead
device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations. In
addition, he earned the Purple Heart when wounded in Belgium on 29
December 1944.
Sgt Bakal re-enlisted on 10 November 1945. |
