ELZIE A. BAKER

Elzie Baker, Argyle, Dies

   ARGYLE -- Funeral services for Elzie Asbury Baker, 36, were incomplete today awaiting the arrival of relatives.  Mr., Baker died Sunday at his home near Argyle, after suffering a heart attack.  Schenkey Funeral Home, Denton, will be in charge of the services. 
   Mr. Baker, a carpenter, was born at McKinney on May 21, 1915, and attended Denton High School.  He served in World War II with the 508th Second Airborne Division [sic].  His wife, the former Lora Faye Faulkner, survives him.
   Mr. Baker was a member of the Baptist Church and the (Masolele?) Lodge.  His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Baker, live in Fort Worth.
   Other survivors include one son, Elzie L. Baker of Argyle; one daughter Priscilla Baker of Argyle; one sister, Mrs. Woodrow Splawn of Fort Worth; four brothers, Wayne Baker of Oregon; Burl Baker, serving with the U.S. Army in Japan; James R. Baker of Garland; and R. B. Baker of Seattle, Wash; and a grandmother, Mrs. Mary M. Baker of Hugo, Okla.

Elzie enlisted at Ft Worth, TX on 6 December 1940 and chose to become a medic.

By April 1943 Cpl Baker was a member of the Medical Detachment, 508th and was attached to the Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion. He later also served with Company H.
