JOHN L. BANDELIN

Grave marker for John L. Bandelin in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau (Marathon county), Wisconsin.

John enlisted in the Army at Milwaukee, WI on 4 December 1942. His initial assignment is unknown.

On 10 August 1944 Sgt Bandelin was transferred to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR from the 11th Replacement Depot.  Although the circumstances are not known he was reduced from grade of Sgt to Pvt without prejudice on11 September 1944.

On 22 December 1944 Pvt Bandelin was captured in Belgium and listed as Missing In Action.

He was liberated from Stalag 12A and discharged on 6 November 1945.

Based on his grave marker he had attained the rank of Corporal prior to discharge.
