HARRY BARNES
      

Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus application for Harry Barnes which was submitted on 18 January 1950.

Harry was credited with 12 months of domestic service and 22 months of foreign service.  He received a bonus of $450 as a result.

Note that on page 2 he listed a son Barry Dean Barnes, age 5 1/2 and showed his wife as deceased.  Her name and death date are unknown.

Burial record and grave marker for Harry Barnes in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia (Columbia county), Pennsylvania. Note the regimental logo in the upper left corner of the stone.

Harry enlisted in the Army at Wilkes Barre, PA on 5 January 1943 and was assigned to Service Company, 508th PIR.

Pvt Barnes was one of the Service Co members that made up the advanced detail sent from Ireland to England to ready Wollaton Park for the arrival of the regiment in March 1943.

Pvt Barnes was promoted to Pfc on 4 January 1945.
