ANTHONY V. BARRETTE, JR.

Grave markers for Anthony V. Barrette in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville (Johnson county), Arkansas.

Anthony enlisted in the Army at Boston, MA on 6 October 1942. Pvt Barrette was transferred from Fort Devens, MA to Company A on 25 October 1942.

Pvt Barrette jumped into Normandy on 6 June 1944 and was initially reported as Missing in Action but was able to rejoin the company. 

He was wounded n action during the Battle of the Bulge on 30 December 1944. 

On 31 May 12945 Pvt Barrette was transferred to Headquarters, 13th Airborne Division which accounts for the reference to the 136h parachute infantry on his grave marker.

Anthony was discharged on 24 September 1945.  His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device which was awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
