This paragraph clipped from a lengthy article listing many Cincinnati area recruits detailed not only John W. Bauer but also Arvera Howard, Alley Lyon, and Leslie Roberts.

All of them were transferred to the 78th Infantry Division.

John enlisted in the Army at Cincinnati, OH on 22 October 1942.  He was transferred from Fort Thomas, KY on 11 November 1942 to Company I, 508th PIR.

However, just three days later Pvt Bauer was transferred to the 78th Infantry Division at Camp Butner, NC.
