LEROY A. BAUMAN

Leroy A. Bauman

PAXTON - Leroy A. Bauman, 76, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of the Paxton area, died Wednesday (June 18, 1997) at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. 

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home, Paxton. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, with military rites by American Legion Post 150, Paxton. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. by the Paxton Masonic Lodge 416. 

Memorials may be made to Camp Blanding Museum and Historical Associates, Route 1, Box 465, Camp Blanding, Starke, Fla. 32091-9703.

Surviving are his wife, Winifred Stearns Bauman; two sons, Richard L. Bauman, Lanesville, Ky.; and Thomas R. Bauman, Wausau, Wis.; one brother, Edward Bauman, Moline; two sisters, Edna Alt, Valparaiso, Ind.; and Alice Albee, Monticello, Ind.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Grave marker for Leroy A. Bauman in the Glen Cemetery, Paxton (Ford County), Illinois.

Mr. Bauman was a member of Company F and was captured during the invasion of Normandy.  He was released from Stalag 4F to U.S. military control approximately a year later.
