LEO J. BECKER

[courtesy of  Leann Pelvit]

Grave marker for Leo J. Becker in Saint Peters Lutheran Cemetery (Richland county), Montana.

The date and place of Leo's enlistment is unknown as his record is unavailable in the National Archives.

Pvt Becker's name first appears in 508th PIR records on an Unnumbered Memo dated 21 November 1944 transferring a large number of men from Service Company to various companies.  Leo was assigned to Company E.

Pvt Becker was evacuated to a hospital on 25 January 1945 due to a "non-battle injury" which may have been a case of frostbite.  On 22 January 1945 he was promoted to Pfc while still hospitalized.  Pfc Becker returned to duty on 6 March 1945.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.
