GLENN L. BEITZEL

Grave marker for Glenn L. Beitzel in Meadow Brook Memorial Park, Warren (Trumbull county), Ohio.

Glenn enlisted in the Army at Fort Hayes, Columbus, OH on 8 April 1942.

On 16 October 1942, Pvt Beitzel was transferred from the Parachute School, Fort Benning, GA to Hq Hq, 508th PIR as a member of the cadre team.

He was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 20 January 1943.  On 22 February 1943, Pfc Beitzel was sent to a Radio Operator Course at the Infantry School, Fort Benning, GA.  Although it was not official until the following day, he was appointed to T/5 and probably wore that stripe when he reported in at Fort Benning..

HGis military decorations include the Bronze Service   Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
