CALVIN K. BENEDICT

Grave marker for Calvin K. Benedict in Lafayette Cemetery Number 1, New Orleans (Orleans Parish), Louisiana.

Calvin was a college graduate working as a bookkeeper when drafted and apparently chose the enlisted ranks despite being eligible for commission consideration. 

He was captured in Normandy on 7 June 1944 and liberated from Stalag 3C following VE day.

Pvt Benedict was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead for participation in Normandy assault and also the Prisoner of War Medal amongst other decorations for his service.
