BYRON R. BENNETT

Grave marker for Bryon R. Bennett in Section C, Row 18, Site 36, Maine Mount Vernon Road Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta (Kennebec county), Maine.

Byron, a native of Maine, first enlisted in the Army at Fort Preble, Portland, ME on 10 July 1939.

Pvt Bennett married Phyllis A Eliason in Portland, ME but that marriage did not last. 

Sgt Bennett was transferred from the  17th Airborne Division to Company G, 578th PIR on 21 August 1945.

Byron re-enlisted on 26 February 1946 and, having returned home, married Betty B. Marson in Portland, ME on 18 August 1946.

He retired as a Master Sgt on 1 February 1960.
