THOMAS S. BENO

BENO Thomas S. Beno age 85. Resident Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno, formerly of Three Rivers, Michigan and Chicago's Roseland area. Retired after 30 years as a Conductor for the Rock Island Railroad. WWII Veteran U.S. Army 82nd Airborne. Purple Heart recipient. Husband for 64 years of Monica nee Jerkins. Father of Thomas S. Jr. (Cheryl) Beno and Kathleen Beno. Grandfather of Thomas S. Beno III. Brother of the late Mary Matyasovics, Mildred Koppers, August, Andrew, Steve, Frank, Paul, John and Joseph Beno. Beloved uncle, dear friend and fellow paratrooper of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St., (US Rte 30, 3 blocks E. of Western Ave.), Chicago Heights on Sunday May 16th from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Monday 9:15 AM to St. Ireneaus Church, Park Forest. Mass 10:00 AM. Graveside committal services and military honors 2:00 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Thomas S. Beno enlisted in the Army at Chicago, IL on 8 December 1942.

Pfc Beno was a member of Company G, 508th and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Service Arrowhead for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944
