Grave marker for Peter E. Besbas in the Abbey of the
Psalms, Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Hollywood (Los Angeles county),
California.
Peter enlisted in the Army at Fort Sheridan, IL on 15
February 1943. He volunteered for parachutist duty and was at some
point transferred to Service Company, 508th PIR and was reassigned to
Company A on 14 July 1944.
Pvt Besbas was listed as missing in action on 24
December 1944 but his status was subsequently changed as absent sick in
an unknown hospital perhaps due to frostbite. .He was later
transferred to an unnamed hospital on 31 May 1945 and did not return to
the regiment. |
