TRAGEDY STRIKES JUST THREE MONTHS LATER |
INJURED
BLACKMON IN POOR CONDITION
MSgt Jasper F. Blackmon was listed in very serious
condition at Charleston General Hospital last night after receiving a
skull fracture Saturday morning.
Blackmon was admitted to the hospital; at 3:55 a.m. Saturday and
underwent surgery that night.
The 37year-old Beckley man, chosen in July as the outstanding Air
National Guardsman in the United States, received the injury in a fall
from a truck at the Kanawha Airport.
Hospital attendants said last night Blackmon had not regained
consciousness since entering the hospital.

Blackmon Still in Critical Condition
Jasper F. Blackmon. Beckley, who was admitted to the Charleston
General Hospital Saturday night with a skull fracture remains in a "very
critical condition" today.
Blackmon, a master sergeant in the Air National Guard, received in
the injury in a fall from a truck at the Kanawha Airport.
He has not regained consciousness since entering the hospital.

Jasper F. Blackmon. Beckley, was still listed in very
critical condition at Charleston General Hospital last night where he
was admitted Saturday after sustaining a skull fracture.
Blackmon, a master sergeant in the Air National Guard, received in
the injury in a fall from a truck at the Kanawha Airport.

Hurt Beckleyan Still Unconscious
Jasper F. Blackmon. Beckley, was still listed in
critical condition at Charleston General Hospital last night.
Blackmon, a master sergeant in the Air National Guard and the
outstanding guardsman in the country, was admitted to the hospital after
he received a fractured skull in a fall from a truck at the Kanawha
Airport.
Hospital personnel said he has not regained consciousness since
entering the hospital.
He is also District Boy Scout Commissioner and scoutmaster of Boy
Scout Troop 139 in Beckley

Blackmon Listed As Very Critical
The condition of Jasper F. Blackmon, Beckley, is "very
critical" according to Mrs. Rex Johnson, whose husband is at Charleston
with the injured man and his wife.
According to Mrs. Johnson, Blackmon was pronounced dead at the
hospital at 9 p.m. Thursday, when his pulse stopped, but his pulse
began beating again.
Mrs. Johnson whose husband is field executive for the Raleigh
County Boy Scouts, said Blackmon had several convulsions Thursday, and
had been placed in an iron lung.
Blackmon, a master sergeant in the Air National Guard, and Boy
Scout commissioner in this county, was admitted to the hospital after he
received a fractured skull in a fall from a truck at the Kanawha
Airport.
