Earl married Ellen Overly in Clio (Genesee county), MI on 22 June 1940.

He registered for the draft in Flint, MI on 16 February 1942 and was inducted into the Army on 24 July 1944.

On 3 June 1945, Pvt Blakeley was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to Company F, 508th PIR.

He was awarded the Good conduct Medal on 11 July 1945 and was discharged on 22 May 1946.
