JAMES M. BLANDFORD

Grave marker for James M. Blandford in Section H, Lot 19, Grave 5 of the Highland View Cemetery, Big Rapids (Mecosta county), Michigan.

James enlisted in the Army at Ft Sheridan, IL on 23 February 1943.

On 26 September 1944 Pfc Blandford was transferred from 82nd Airborne, Leicester, England to Service Company, 508th PIR.  He was then transferred to Company H on 21 November 1944,

Pvt Blandford was wounded in action 2 January 1945 and evacuated.  He did not return to the regiment.

Pfc Blandford's military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.
