JOSEPH J. BONVILLAIN

Grave marker for Joseph J. Bonvillain in Section 48 Site 2544 of the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside (Riverside), CA.

Joseph enlisted at enlisted at Shreveport, LA; on October 12, 1942 and was initially assigned to Company E.  He was transferred to the Service Company in May 1944 and remained in that group until the was discharged on November 1, 1945.

Joseph participated in the jump into Holland and was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his role in that air assault.

"Redeye", as he was called, served at least some of his time in Service Company as the driver for Battalion Commander, Lt. Col Mendez.
