ROBERT E. BORROR

Robert E. Borror Sr.

   Robert Edward Borror Sr., 72, of Knightstown died April 5, 2002. Born July 29, 1929, in New Castle, he was the son ot Layton Borror and Jeanette (Sharp) Borror Mattix.
   He was employed for many years as a supervisor with Western Electric in Indianapolis, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Knightstown American Legion and had coached Little League teams in Knightstown for many years. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a graduate of Knightstown High School.
   Survivors include his mother of Knightstown; stepfather Glen Mattix of Knightstown; son Robert E. Borror Jr. of New Castle; daughter Jenny Smith of Carthage; stepdaughter Kathy Taylor of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters Evelyn Merchant and Doris McNabb, both of Knightstown; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death on Dec. 18, 2001, by his wife, Lillian (White) Borror, whom he married Aug. 1, 1953, and by two sons.
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown with the Rev. James Mullen officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military graveside rites conducted by the Knightstown American Legion.
   Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Hoosier Gym with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Following basic training, Robert completed Combat Engineers course at Fort Leonard, Wood, MO and then transferred to airborne. A news article in June 1951 listed his new address is "Pvt Robert E Borror, Med Co., 508th AIR, Fort Benning Ga."

In August 1952, a similar article announced his address was "Pvt Robert E Borror, Hq & Hq Co 508th A.I.R . Fort Benning Ga"

The local news in February 1953 yielded an even greater change oif address stating " Pfc Robert E. Borror, Knightstown, has been discharged from the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team at Fort Benning, GA"

Robert succumbed to a heart attack on 5 April 2002.
